China Entry Visas:
Make sure you get your visas early. 2009 marks a few rather significant historical anniversaries on the Chinese calendar. Contact your local Chinese Embassy or Consulate for details. Or call us if you're really stumped.
Tournament Fields:
Shanghai Rugby Football Club (recently established at a new location)
Field condition: Excellent fresh turf fields
Directions: Download them here.
Pools:
Pools will be determined largely on your standing at the end of the last Shanghai tournament. The format, for now, will follow our 2008 Tournament. Due to anticipated pool size in the top division (5 teams) there will no crossover game on Saturday. Your Saturday record will determine your seeding for the Sunday tournament, with seeds 1,3,5,7 and 9 available to Pool A and 2,4,6,8,10 available to Pool B. Seeds for teams with tied records on Saturday will be determined by head-to-head results.
Pools C and D in the lower division will have three in-pool games and one crossover game on Saturday to determine seeding. Top teams from the lower division can play into the upper division bracket Sunday morning.
Tourney Hotel
The Official Tourney Hotel is set as The Holiday Inn Express, Shanghai-Jinqiao. The Holiday Inn is located 15 minutes away (a subway connects the fields to the hotel).
The cost per room per night is 200 RMB. No frills (e.g. drinks/breakfast) but crazy cheap. Trust us, you all want to stay here.
To get the tourney rate e-mail Cissy at cissy.zhu@ihg.com. The hotel will not honor the tourney rate if you book through a third party so please contact Cissy for the special price.
